arXtract
BMC Remedy ARS applications are getting ever more extensive and complex. This is making it progressively more difficult for the developer to maintain an overview. Yet, at the same time, they are required to implement new features and requirements quickly and deliver high-quality results. ApproLogic arXtract provides a professional solution that supports the ARS developer in their daily work with Remedy. arXtract extracts all relevant ARS structures and stores these data transparently arranged in ARS forms that will guide the developer in their work.
Why arXtract?
When we started to implement ARS V7.X applications we had a serious problem concerning the analysis of our ARS code. The great free tools - ARSdoc and ARInside - were either obsolete or upgraded sporadically. Still we were in need of a tool that would provide us with structured ARS code information, allow for unlimited searches and the handling of advanced options and shared workflow, missing fields information, guides and so on.
At this point we decided to do it ourself and called it arXtract. In the three years since we started the project it developed into a very useful device that we do not want to miss and actually cannot do without anymore. And now we have decided to share it with the ARS community.
Moreover, it is our intention to permanently provide a freeware version of arXtract, maintaining and upgrading it regularly as ARS evolves. While there will be no licence fee, ApproLogic will offer inexpensive optional support and maintenance for customers who want current versions, features or a faster problem resolution. Please check out our license agreement on that.
Internally we use arXtract for much more than analysis. We have extended it to cover ARS code comparisons, migration mechanisms, useful ARS Admin API functions like copying fields from one into other forms or attaching (shared) workflow to forms. We will provide a professional version of arXtract covering those features that - sorry - will not be for free.
